Point Lobos State Park on the California coast is one of the most spectacular places I have ever photographed.
The Pacific Ocean on this particular day was up to one of its many tricks. The waves would become small for several minutes, then without warning one huge 'sleeper' wave would come crashing in. After observing this for some time I chose a vantage point I felt was safe.
Three children climbed down the rocks and walked out past me even though I cautioned them against it. Finally I yelled, "Get up here NOW." The fear in my voice must have gotten them to move back up, the next wave would have put them under six feet of angry Pacific Ocean.
